Day 11 - Hemp Hearts

Today’s nervous system novelty was simple: I added hemp hearts to my morning smoothie.

Nothing flashy. Just a small handful of these little seeds I’ve walked past a hundred times in the grocery store. They’ve been sitting there quietly in the health food aisle, and since I’m trying to add more protein to my meals, I grabbed them. Ten grams of protein, plenty of minerals—seemed worth a try.

I blended them into strawberries, mango, coconut water, and protein powder—and honestly, I enjoyed their slightly nutty, not overpowering taste. I have to watch my glucose levels - I’d say my monitor did NOT love this breakfast combination. I’ll likely need to take out the mango next time. But I appreciated playing with protein/carb combinations.

This whole novelty challenge has reminded me that new doesn’t have to mean big. Nervous system expansion doesn’t always show up as a dramatic breakthrough or a major change. Sometimes it’s just doing one small thing differently. Choosing curiosity over autopilot.

Today’s tiny shift felt good. Not life-changing, not Instagram-worthy—just a quiet yes to something nourishing. And that counts, too.
